But I want to ask you that the premise that ”after being slaughtered by the millions, after having suffered for millennia at the hands of Romans, Arabs, Spaniards, French, English, Germans, Russians, etc.,” Jews are entitled to have the Israel in the way they are having now.

Come on , it will more like having Mexico asking for most of the part of USA as it belonged to them before; or a monkey trainer coming and saying that the descendants of our ancestor wants the claim on it .

And Jews who were persecuted should be paid back by the world by persecuting some other community ? Is this the kind of justice we believe in ?

Just imagine that anybody coming, who was wrongfully put behind bars by government, taking over drawing room first, then your bedroom; and finally even the toilet you have been forced to cramp in... How will you feel? And yeah don’t forget that he was wrongfully put behind bars by government . He has suffered a lot for many years . You think that will justify doing all that ?

The state of Israel was created after world war two, and jews of today don’t give a damn where it came from. They did NOT decide how it was created. But they DO know that people want to take it away from them by force.

Your comparison between Mexico and the USA is unacceptable. Both in terms of geographical area and it’s blithely hypothetical nature.

We need ideas and results here, and not scapegoats and good/bad guys from another age.

I think Mexico has to be taken out of the example given...

While it is true the US. southwestern states were originally ours, part of them were ceded during the Mexican American war and part of them were PURCHASED...Either way, although they were part of Mexico, the comparing us to the Gaza conflict is highly unacceptable.

We are not in conflict trying to retake what was ours or vice versa.

There is no conflict, no killing, question over who that territory belongs to. This issue was settled in 1848..hardly comparable, amigo.

Arjun, that’s exactly the point of the article.. at some point in time you have to move on. If the Palestinians had put the same amount of energy into building and creating a sustainable/liveable land as they do attacking Israel and perpetuating victimhood, they might have a wonderful place to live. AND if leaders like Arafat hadn’t stolen what little money the country was given in aid. The billions he socked away in Swiss banks SHOULD have been used to help his people. Don’t blame the Israelis for all their woes.

Bottom line, if anyone really wanted to be truthful, is there are very few who want Israel to exist.

Arafat was corrupt but there was no other leader for them, also he was also in the books of US leaders; so saying that Palestinians are responsible for him is wrong. It is more like saying that what Ariel Sharon did in refugee camps was done by every Jew; even though he was elected after that by them as their PM.

Incognito, I just feel bad talking about Israel-Palestine. I just feel like being impotent when in front of your eyes thousands are butchered and that too in the name of those rights which never should have existed.

You are asking palestine peopel to move on. why don’t you think that they also wanted the same with Jews in 1945. MOVE ON! Whats has happened has happened in Germany. See I am not a Palestinian nor a Muslim and has lost nothing in this massacre, but shamefully I am a human.

I always prefer to avoid this subject as it really makes me realize how much weak a human being is in front of weapons and all the other things. Also feeling like this makes me sympathetic to ”terrorists” really putting my career in jeopardy.

I would like to apologize to everybody who had to take the pain of reading my comments about it, because while we will keep saying fancy things innocent will continue dying.

So losing my mental balance i would like to say that if possible kill all Palestinians once and for all. At least it won’t make us go through this trauma again and again. we will also condemn it like Hiroshima and Nagasaki and will MOVE ON.

I don’t believe that religion is associated with Palestine as a national independence movement. I have always been careful on separate the idea of an Arab state and an Islamic state. Not all Arabs are Muslims and not all Israelis are Jews. The conflict between both nations is socio-political reinforced by religious tendencies but not necessarily as primary instance.

Zionists may have religion as main claim for defending the rights for Israel existence on actual borders but again, I never had nothing against Zionism. Primitive cultures have always been attached to land as a signal of belonging. I see no harm to Zionism in pure form just for wanting to maintain the old temple in Israel’s hands. However, it should be open to all.

Let’s remember that Muhammad built an unsolicited Mosque there just to ”belong” among Christians and Jewish people. Maybe, just maybe... Muhammad role was more of an unifier of the Arab tribes than a prophet. Either way, he accomplished his job quite well and Islam has everything to be a beautiful religion just like any other. What’s Islam lacks of is transparency of dogma and this is something that the Jews have well written and established. The power of Israel lays on the strength of unity. This won’t be broken by disorganised enemies be it, Arab or not.

Muhammad has added to primitive Arabs a sense of reconciliation but forgot to leave instructions of how to behave after his departure. This place Muslims not along side Jews but Christians instead. Both ideals of heaven, Christian and Muslim alike have been modified from the original plan to accommodate the plan and intentions of men. This is the source of conflict that Muslims are presenting today, Christians experienced through Middle ages, Inquisition, etc. And the Hebrews four thousand years ago. Hopefully, maturity will come to Islam some day and the idea of Arab as nation become more important than the idea of Jihad. Until this happens, anyone with common sense will stand beside Israel.

The message of West is simple: Stop the fight, look your priorities and elect a leader. Someone who will speak for all truthful Muslims alike. Someone who means peace. Someone we can respect and negotiate with. Then, only them, all the three major religions on Earth can move together as Humans and not as Christians, Muslims and Jews.

If the is a God and this God is powerful and fair as our scriptures claim, so it see us all as equal. No favourites. No less fortunate. Meanwhile, I will believe in men. I will believe in Humanity. meanwhile...

Meanwhile I was reading your article here and was very astonished of your very little knowledge of ancient and modern history.

In 1947-1948 Palestinians were driven OUT their lands by the Massacres that the jews did ( mainly Deir Yassin ). The fact that Israel destroyed more than FOUR HUNDRED palestinian villages and killed many of its citizens also tell much that this was ethnic cleansing .

Osaid, go to Bir Zeit University and ask to see their study on the Deir Yassin incident. You may be surprised at their conclusions, not only of the actual incident, but of the implications and the motives of the people behind the story.

If you want to talk about expulsion and ethnic cleansing, you can’t ignlre the expulsion of 900,000 Jewish refugees from Arab lands, who were divested of all assets, disenfranchised and expelled from Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain and Kuwait (Jordan and Saudi Arabia never had any Jewish populations), mostly with one suitcase per person and the equivalent of $50.

Osaid, there is a whole side of Israeli-Palestinian history that YOU have to learn about, too.

I’m sorry, but I disagree about ”ending the occupation will solve it all”. Israel, Palestine, whatever you wish to call it, was occupied for almost 2,000 years by foreign conquerors, including the Islamic Empire. ”Ending the occupation” alone will not magically build a country that can stand on its own as a viable social, political and economic entity, it will take many years of hard work. No nation in the world was built overnight.

However, being old enough to have worked in companies that employed workers from ”the territories” before the first intifada, I do think there is enough talent and enough people willing to do that hard work... and there are people in Israel who are willing to help. If we all want it enough, it’s ”do-able”.

Wa’d, you are a fair guy and deserve a fair answer: I wrote this article and this is my opinion based on the legitimacy of Israel as a nation since this is the primary reason for all the conflicts involving Arabs and Israelis. This is not about religion and in particular not about the occupation of Arab occupied land. Palestine is not Arab. Iraq is, Saudi Arabia is and Egypt became. Palestine is a transition territory.

The article is based on the acceptance of Israel as a state. On saying this, I am pro-Israeli rights to have their country and the right to defend themselves against any threat opposing their rights to existence. I am also pro-Palestine and it’s right of ’becoming’ a nation under a fair guidance...

There are no reason for Palestinians and Israelis be living in the same state and I say this with the naivety of an observer. Palestine cannot survive on it’s own and it worries me. If Palestine is not self-sufficient it has to rely on larger nations with ”not-so-clear” agendas such as Iran and Saudi Arabia (I will not include Syria and Jordan because overall, Syria’s history of diplomacy has been good comparing to other nations). It is not convenient for the West.

An alternative would be liking a new formed Palestinian state to be counselled and guided by Egyptian, Jordan and Syrian nations but again, The Egyptian middle classes and its students movements are financially linked to Saudi Arabia’s shari’as propaganda.

The creation of Palestine as a nation would create another conflict of interest among different Muslim factions. I already can see that happening: factions supported by Iran against factions supported by Egypt/Saudis which would keep foreign investments (essential for the development of any states within Palestine) away.

Israel is well established. Socially, economically and politically prepared while Palestine is not. The foreign policies of Palestine reflect that. The incapacity of the local population to deal with internal issues through democratic ways such as to protest against Militias launching rockets rockets against neighbour countries is clear indication of bullied citizens. The fact of electing terrorists to power also shows immaturity. ... If this is not democracy, Western nations are not prepared to invest or accept.

I will support a Palestine state when religion is not inserted into society and the free citizens have the right to accommodate any kind of beliefs they desire without prosecution of being themselves.

Wa’d, first of all, my apologies. Your avatar don’t allow me to see your gender.

The state is above people’s personal interests. it reflects the common good of all. My argument is not about if Palestinians should or not have a religion but about is if the Palestine state should be linked to a religion.

3. ”you have a very not true idea about Islam in the Arab countries.” probably correct about Islam... but again, Muslims themselves don’t have idea about Islam either, only their own interpretations that reflect their own needs. If Muslims knew about Islam and the intentions of Muhammad, we would be having this conversation right now and no conflict would ever take place... In Palestine, Pakistan, Georgia, Chechnya, Indonesia, Afghanistan... pick your spot... If all these people knew the correct message of their religion... life would be different to all of us...

As for the not knowing Arab countries, I have been to at least 6 of them (of which I enjoyed each). I guess, that’s give me a little credibility to comment about it. I been to Jordan and I would love to come back. I spent time in Amman and I went to Petra (the name of my wife by the way...), Al Zarqa (I think it’s the right spelling) and Al Karak. (:

Beautifully, stated, Robbie!� I agree.�Is Palestine be self-sustaining?� No.� It has depended on aid from across the globe.� In its present state it’s what would be considered a welfare state. I don’t want to give to someone who doesn’t want to help themselves. Can it be self-sustaining? Don’t have that answer.

That little section of land is like a sandbox in a playground... literally and figuratively... It is not exclusively THEIR sandbox the Palestinians need to learn to share and play fair, before they can be accepted in the playground.�If they keep claiming the sandbox is theirs, and hitting others in the same box, saying the others don’t belong, then something has to be done.
